The international community has begun to support the people to become self-sufficient as soon as possible. However, because of the enormity of the destruction, much more is needed. Our non-profit organization, Health and Education Support for Tigray, is a new entity established to create awareness and raise funds from individual and other donors to supplement the much needed support, mainly in the areas of healthcare and education.

ABOUT US

Health and Education Support for Tigray (HESFT) is a 501(c)(3) designated non-profit charitable organization incorporated in the state of Vermont. The organization aims to provide support for the unmet health and education needs in the Northern Ethiopia region of Tigray. Because of war in the region, for more than 2 years, more than 90% of the healthcare facilities and school systems have been destroyed. According to many sources people, including women and children, are dying because of lack of basic healthcare needs. Schools have been closed for more than 3 years due to COVID-19 and the war. Sources, including news outlets like CNN, PBS, NBC etc. and organizations such as the Red Cross, Doctors without Borders and many others, have extensively reported about the humanitarian catastrophic situation, owing to the destruction of the food systems, livestock, infrastructure, health systems, and closure of banking, electricity and communication means to the entire region.
